Sport Godalming Awards 2018
We had a very successful year at the Sport Godalming awards. On Friday 26th October Tom Balchin, Megan White, Gaynor White, Connie Simons and Steve Simons attended the Sport Godalming Awards
2018 to represent our club.
We were lucky enough to have a few people shortlisted and even some winners. Our poolside helpers won the ‘Young Volunteer Award’. Well done guys, we are all very proud to have such a large group of talented helpers, it’s wondeful to see all you bring the club and hopefully develop into coaches. What a fantastic achievement.
Megan and Tom came 2nd in the ‘Volunteer of the Year’ category. Megan and Tom took over the role from two very experienced Team Managers and after a steep learning curve are starting to make the role their own picking teams that balance the desire to win with the need to involve swimmers at all levels and encourage swimmers to compete. Megan and Tom have done a really great job over the last few years and have developed a really good team spirit at the club with all the swimmers wanting to compete and do well for the club.
And last but certainly not least, well done to Godalming Goldfish Open Water Team who won the ‘Sport Godalming Special Award’. Godalming Goldfish is a small but active open water swimming club set up by memebers of the masters to concentrate on open water swimming, providing a home to like-minded individuals who want to challenge themselves over longer distances in the cold water of rivers, lakes and the sea. The team consists of Mark Lucas, Cathy Taylor, Connie Simons and Steve Simons. They have travelled to various places such as France, Scilly, Sweden, Devon and North Wales to name a few. They have conquered various sea, lakes and rivers and all since October 2017. Well done to all involve and we look forward to hearing about your future achievements. Well done.
Thank you to Hugh Morgan for all the nominations.
